She also spoke about the different facts of the Cyber Crimes that happens on yearly basis as in India stands 11th in world in case of Cyber Crimes, India contributes 3% of the Global Cyber Crime, India being the most targeted country in case of Phishing after USA and UK, India has total of 3038 cyber cases registered, There has been 2700 arrests in case of cyber crimes in 3 years i.e. since 2007-2010, 1335 cases have been registered under ITA2000 and 50% of the cyber crime cases have not been registered.Speaker spoke about the types of Cyber Crimes. She gave small explanations about each of the types like Hacking, Cyber Terrorism, Forgery, Credit card frauds, Electronic fund transfer fraud, ATM scams, Social networking identity crimes, Cyber squatting/ Domain name squatting, Virus attack, Worm attack, Pornography, Pedophiles (Child pornography), Trojan attack, Email spoofing, Email spamming, Email bombing, Sending defamatory mails, Sending threatening mails, Online gambling, Cyber stalking, Cyber smearing.. The Speaker also spoke about the Punishments in case of Cyber Crimes. She gave the students the brief details of the Punishments as the following; For hacking then imprisonment is upto 3 years or fine upto 2 Lacs or both, For obscene publication then imprisonment is upto 5 years or fine upto 1 Lac, For tampering then imprisonment is upto 3 years or fine upto 2 Lacs or both, For privacy affected then imprisonment is upto 2 years or fine upto 1 Lac or both, No penalty mentioned then fine upto Rs. 25,000/-, Section 43 of Indian Cyber Law states that if the computer data is stolen without permission then compensation upto Rs. 1 Crore,

Anna Leela College of Commerce & Economics and Shobha Jayaram Shetty College for BMS had organized seminar on Intellectual Property Rights and Cyber Law. The whole idea of organizing this seminar was to create awareness in our students the importance of knowing what is a Cyber Law, certain facts about Cyber Crimes, types of Cyber Crimes, Punishment for criminals and what is Intellectual Property Right. This was held on 18th January, 2014 at Bunts Sangha’s Higher Education Complex, Buntara Bhavana Marg, Kurla (E), Mumbai-400070.Adv. Priti Dahotre from Patent Office, Government of India visited the college to brief the students regarding Cyber Law in India. The speaker spoke about the facts about Cyber Crimes happening since invention of computer and internet connection happen. 

 

For decrypt information then imprisonment is upto 7 years, For digital signature then imprisonment is upto 2 years or fine upto 1 Lac or both and For protected system then imprisonment is upto 10 years. Speaker gave some information to the students regarding the Curbing of these activities initiated by different governments across the world like WIPO formed an Arbitration Centre in 1999, Cyber crime cases increased drastically by 84%. In UK there is a Internet Watch Forum (IWF), in USA there is Internet Police and in India there are Cyber Crime Investigation Cell, Cyber Regulation Advisory Committee, Indian Computer Emergency Response Team (CERT-In) are some of the regulatory bodies that take care of the actions happening over the Internet.Speaker also gave some short reviews of the different case studies like WNS case, Palghar Case, Hacking of Governments official Websites and Orkut case.
